Mr. Grainger

Hello students.
This weekend there are a few things to finish up for Monday (even though we won't get to them until Tuesday as a result of the Winter Carnival taking place)1. Your free-verse poem (on the poster size paper with appropriate design and effort:)2. Your reflective blog post about your learning story* This writing assignment is going to take some serious thought on your part:) It is a reflective piece of writing meaning that you will have to really think about the elements of your lifelong learning story to this point in grade 7. There are limitless possible variables that have affected your interests, skills, likes, dislikes, learning styles etc. over the course of your life so far. The idea of this assignment isn't just to list these things, but to really think about them and describe how they have affected your learning profile so far, which in other words simply means answering the 5 W's and an H... who is the learner (you) but also who helps you learn; what do you like to learn or want to learn more about; where do you learn best (at school, outside of school, on vacation, at home...); when do you learn best (time of day, season etc.); why you think you are the learner you are... why you have become the learner you are and why you want to continue becoming more of that person, or less and how you learn best, or how you can learn better.

3. Color your "company flags" so we can start the conquest game on Tuesday... uncolored flags, or flags not returned will not be counted in the game.

Math/Science

Mrs. Kidd

  • Today we practiced reducing fractions using factor trees.
  • In science we learned about force, force diagrams, how to measure force and how the effect the force has on an object depends on magnitude, location and direction. We also learned about mass, weight and the force of gravity.

7K

Humanities

Mr. Bowman

  • Pick a Heritage Fair Topic and start research

Math/Science

Mrs. Kidd

  • Today we practiced adding and subtracting fractions with common denominators.
  • In science we completed a virtual lab as we learned about about external forces on structures. Our other virtual lab taught us about strong shapes. In class we built a human buttress to demonstrate how arches can be strengthen. We also learned about the center of gravity/center of mass.
